Medical Assistant/Front Office Coordinator

Department: Medical Assistant/Front Office
Location:

Atlanta Perinatal Associates, a busy Maternal-Fetal Medicine practice with locations in Georgia, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistants and Front Office Coordinators to join our team. Must be dependable and have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical office setting.

This position is responsible for providing customer service by obtaining and verifying necessary demographic, insurance information, obtaining referrals, to include triaging, answering multiple phone lines and scheduling appointments. Work is performed within clearly defined areas of regulations and procedures and is reviewed and monitored by a supervisor or manager. (We have multiple offices: Decatur, Conyers, Stockbridge, Riverdale, Newnan, Peachtree Mid-Town, Columbus)

Works both autonomously and collaboratively with providers and staff in coordinating patient care in the front and back-office settings. Functions as a primary liaison between patients, staff and providers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answering multi line phones and scheduling appointments
  • Have basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of medical insurance plans and benefits
  • Obtain insurance referrals from PCP offices
  • Scan & index documents into EMR
  • Ensure proper HIPAA practices/precautions are followed
  • Appointment/reminder calls
  • Call new patient referrals to schedule new patient appointments
  • Be knowledgeable on HIPAA laws and regulations

Ability to commute/relocate to Atlanta Metro Area: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Medical terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Computer skills: 3 years (Preferred)
